South Jersey Rising Stars (SJRS) participated in the first meet of the indoor season for UAGTCA at Widener University Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 7, 2016.
With a roster of 12 girls and boys, SJRS with its experienced and non-experienced runners did very well and the most of all, the children had a great time. SJRS 11-12 girl's relay team (Laila Muhammad, Anna Buzby, McKenzie Goodman & Darian Harris) made its first appearance and took 3rd place out of 6 teams. The relay team was just 2 seconds away from the first place team.
Our 8 and under boys and girls did amazing well. On the girls side, in the 200M dash, Gabby Patrick came in 15th out of 38 girls. Kaira Swain and Maliah Davis came in 30th and 33rd respectively. These girls are first time runners.
In the 8 and under boys, Aiden Mason made his first athletic appearance and finished 39th in the 200M dash. This young guy is also a first time runner.
With one athlete representing the 9-10 boys category, Graydin Buzby took 39th in the 200M dash with 85 boys in his age group and in the 800M dash, Graydin placed 25th out 40 boys.
In the 11-12 girls category, SJRS had Darian Harris (6th place), Anna Buzby (30th place) and Rhionna Timmons (37th place) participate in the 200M Dash. In the 800M Dash, Laila Muhammad (2nd place), Darian Harris (4th place), Anna Buzby (14th place) and McKenzie Goodman (26th place) competed against 35 other girls.
Laila Muhummad also placed 4th in the 1500M with a field of 10 girls. We are so proud of our athletes...GREAT JOB!!!
